We rely on financial support to fulfill our mission of training and consultation. As a not-for-profit organization, we are able to accept your donations to support our mission. Donations go directly toward the costs of training and supervising graduate students and toward consultation and training in underserved rural communities. If you are in the neighborhood, we also need volunteers with the energy and skills to help a small but growing organization provide Big Hopes for Small Towns.

The Center for Rural Psychology has a two-prong mission. We train psychology graduate students to serve in rural areas, and we work to meet the mental health needs of underserved rural communities. This year we are training one full-time predoctoral intern and five graduate practicum students.

 

 

When asked for her opinion about the care she receives at Heartland Counseling, one client said: “If not for Heartland, I would not have sought out therapy. Heartland’s sliding fee makes it the only place I can afford the services I need. I called counseling centers all over the area, but found that Heartland’s sliding fee made it the only place I could get the testing I need to help me cope with my learning disability. My school doesn’t provide it, and everywhere else charges so much more. Besides the testing, my therapy sessions have helped me cope with my anxiety and with family conflict. I am so impressed with the professionalism of Heartland staff. It is hard to believe that it is a teaching clinic and that my therapist is a student. I am very grateful to have benefited in so many ways from the sliding fee program at Heartland Counseling.”
